Day 1 – Travel day

Carmen and I are off on another vacation.  This time a road trip where we will travel around the United States visiting the few States that we have not been to before; along with other destinations in States we have already visited.

Our trip will, for the most part, follow the trail below.  First we’ll head north to Tennessee then visit the non-visited States Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and then North Dakota; making a counter-clockwise circle around the US.  We'll stop at some unusual places like Carhenge, in Nebraska, a Stonehenge look-alike made out of cars and if we pass that way on our way home, Cadillac Ranch where a number of Cadillac cars are buried in the ground with their nose or tail facing up.  Anyway we have about 40 places we have planned to visit.

Leaving early in the morning (about 6:10 am) we drove north, following I-75, through Florida and Georgia before changing to I-24 and passing through Nashville, TN on our way to Clarksville.  (Yes the same Clarksville from the Monkey’s song; if you can remember that far back.)

So, our trip through Tennessee almost followed a musical trail beginning in Chattanooga (Choo-choo) through Nashville and ending in Clarksville (Last train by the Monkeys).  I can hear the music now.

On our way we stopped in Georgia for gas and a few peaches.  The peaches are great by the way.  The place we got the peaches also sell fireworks and stuff like jams, shirts and other touristy things.  But what is Frog Jam?

Shortly after checking into our hotel, we visited Carmen’s granddaughter Breanna.  We went tonight because Devin, Breanna's husband, might not be able to get out of work for lunch tomorrow.  Their daughter (Carmen's Great-grand daughter), Caroline, is so cute!!!

Tomorrow we will meet with them again before heading to Bowling Green, Kentucky.
